Status of Degree Applications
Conceptual
This is an exciting stage where unique and innovated degree concepts are contemplated. Some ideas will move forward to begin the creation of a Program Concept while others remain on the backburner for a more opportune time.

Program Concept
At the Concept stage the development team describes the uniqueness and need for their degree. This includes an overview of the access criteria, student profile, program description, labour market data, internal/external consultation, institutional resources, estimated costs, and outcomes.
Once developed the Program Concept must be approved by the Faculty Curriculum Committee, Faculty Council, and S2C2 before it can move forward to the next stage. Currently at this stage are:
- Bachelor of Arts Minor in Counselling – Sarah Hickinbottom, Ross Laird, Deborah Macnamara
- Bachelor of Arts in Education - Sarah Hickinbottom
- Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics - John Inglis
- Bachelor of Science in Mathematics - John Inglis
Full Program Proposal
At this stage the development team expands upon the Program Concept primarily in the areas of degree content and logistics. After reviewing similar program offerings within BC, justification for the proposed degree is rationalized through the aims, goals and objectives that adhere to Kwantlen’s mandate and strategic plan. The degree content is presented to include its delivery methods, along with faculty and program resources. This must demonstrate the linkages between learning outcomes and curriculum design.
The Full Program Proposal must be approved by the Faculty Curriculum Committee, Faculty Council, S2C2, and the Senate before it can move forward to the Ministry. Currently at this stage are:
- Bachelor of Design in Product Design Soft Goods – Ken Hughes
- Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Agri-Food Systems – Kent Mullinex
- Bachelor of Music in Musical Arts – Wayne Jeffrey
- Bachelor of Science in Health Science – Allison McCutcheon
- Bachelor of Technology in Innovation and Leadership – Joanne Massey
- Bachelor of Arts Policy Analysis for Sustainability – Heather Harrison
- Bachelor of Horticulture Science Major (Plant Health or Urban Ecosystems) – Carol Barnett, Susan Murray
Ministry Review
At this stage the degree application is posted on the Ministry Website and is open to public comments for 30 days. After this, the Minister will render a decision on consent within 4-8 weeks. Currently at this stage are:

- Bachelor of Business Administration Marketing Management – Nishan Perera
- Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies – Frank Abbott
