Eagles Golfer Places in the Top Ten at UFV Tournament

2011-2012 GOLF Nick Stripp ProfileMETRO VANCOUVER, BC - (October 21, 2011) –The Kwantlen Polytechnic University Eagles golf team made the short trip east to the Chilliwack Golf and Country Club last weekend to compete in the 4th and final PAC WEST Golf Tournament hosted by the University of the Fraser Valley. The University of the Fraser Valley won the team competition with the Cody Bell of UBC-Okanagan taking home the individual title.

When the Eagles took to the tees on Saturday they had one goal in mind; to finish the year off with their best performance of the season. The team started out strong out of the gates. The team collectively managed to shoot well enough on Saturday to put them into contention. Strong rounds from Surrey’s Thomas Rose (72), Nick Stripp (74) and Langley’s Jesse Reichelt (75) propelled the Eagles into a fifth place standing after the opening round. Sunday proved to be a tougher challenge for the eagles and the team cooled off to finish 7th place in final tournament rankings.

Third year golfer Nick Stripp quickly became the story of the tournament for the Eagles. His two round score of 147 (74, 73) was good enough for 8th place overall in the individual standings and gave Kwantlen its first top ten individual finish since the 2009 season.

The UFV tournament capped off the 2011-2012 PACWEST golf season for the Eagles who finished in 8th place overall in the team category.
