ADMISSIONS ASSISTANT– Competition Number 12-02A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is seeking a customer service focused individual for a full-time temporary (until January 2013)   Admissions Assistant position to start immediately.  Primary responsibilities involve evaluation of applications for admission and related documentation, advising students regarding admission requirements, registration and other institutional resources, and liaising with faculty and other university departments.

A working knowledge of admissions procedures as well as intermediate experience working with a student records system (ideally BANNER) is needed in this role. A minimum of two years of office experience is required, preferably gained in a post-secondary education environment. Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and database software is needed as well as the ability to type a minimum of 40wpm with a high degree of accuracy. An aptitude for exacting and precise work as well as the ability to prioritize and work independently with frequent interruptions is essential in this role.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT ASSISTANT – Competition Number 11-151A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently accepting applications for a Customer Support Assistant for the Supply and Business Services Division (www.kwantlen.ca/supply) . This position is a temporary full time (35 hours per week) and based at the Langley campus, but may also involve intermittent travel to the Surrey, Cloverdale and Richmond campuses.  This position will commence immediately and continue for approximately six months with a possibility of extension.

The successful candidate will possess strong, communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills as well as proven experience providing customer service in a fast paced and dynamic team environment. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite is a requirement. The ability to work in a flexible, self-directed and pro-active manner is essential. 

Minimum qualifications include, two years post-secondary education or formal certificate/diploma (Purchasing, Marketing, Business Administration, Management or Business studies preferred), a minimum of two years’ experience in an administrative support role in a customer service environment or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous experience within a team environment is required as well as full command of the English language both written and verbal.  The successful candidate must be well organized, reliable and able to take initiative.

INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS ASSISTANT - Competition Number 11-152A

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is currently seeking to fill an immediate vacancy for a full-time temporary International Admissions Assistant on our Surrey campus (end date to be determined).   The primary duties of this position are to assist with the evaluation of applications for admission and related documentation, to advise students regarding admission requirements, registration and other institutional resources, and to liaise with faculty and other university departments.

This position requires a minimum of one-year of post secondary education supplemented with a minimum two years related office experience. Applicants must be proficient with Microsoft Word at an intermediate level in addition to Microsoft Excel and database software such as Microsoft Access. Applicants must be able to type a minimum of 40wpm with a high degree of accuracy. Applicants must exhibit an aptitude for exacting and precise work and have the ability to prioritize and work independently with frequent interruptions.

Preference will be given to applicants who exhibit the above skills in addition to possessing customer service experience (preferably in a post secondary setting) along with experience using BANNER or similar student records systems combined with knowledge of university-programs.
