We are currently seeking faculty with expertise and experience to teach courses in Education and Educational Transitions (first and final year).
All instructors in the department are required to teach some courses in the area of Educational Transitions. Our first year transition courses focus on helping students to appreciate the broad purpose and values of higher education in democratic societies, and to cultivate the abilities necessary to engage in scholarly discourse at a university level. Our final year transition course aims to help students connect the knowledge, skills, and abilities developed through their education to the task of becoming highly employable, engaged citizens who care deeply about their communities.
EDST is a small, yet growing department. We offer a B.A. Minor in Counselling Psychology that is theoretically grounded in hermeneutic philosophy, and existential and narrative approaches, that involves both theoretical and practical courses. Over the coming years we intend to expand our offerings in Education and welcome candidates with the ability to contribute to course development (particularly in the areas of Curriculum and Instruction, History and Philosophy of Education, Multiculturalism and Diversity, Assessment, Evaluation, and Special Needs).
Ideal candidates will possess a strong record of university teaching, a solid record of research and scholarly activities, and a willingness to take an active role in expanding the department. Successful candidates will also be required to participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom including: student support; departmental, faculty, and/or university committees and initiatives; and other professional service activities in keeping with their disciplines and supporting students, the department, and the institution.
Minimum qualifications to teach in the department include:
- Earned Doctorate degree in Education, Humanities or Social Sciences
- Strong evidence of excellence in teaching in an academic discipline and a minimum of five years’ experience teaching at post-secondary institutions

- A strong understanding of the value of and a demonstrated commitment to a broad liberal arts tradition in education
- Demonstrated engagement in scholarly activities (e.g., publications, conference presentations)
- Demonstrated potential to contribute to curriculum development and service initiatives
