Faculty Login Name Change - Completed on Dec 3 and 4, 2011
In an effort to streamline network resource access and enhance security and usability, we have changed the way that faculty log into selected Kwantlen resources. Essentially, faculty no longer use their Banner employee ID number as a username, but instead now use their assigned “login name” to log in. Some services had already used the login name for logging in; they remain the same. Existing passwords were not changed.
LaptopsThis change also affects faculty login to Kwantlen laptop computers. The laptop will have to be connected to the network in an office on any Kwantlen campus for the laptop login to be updated. Here are the login procedures.
Before the laptop is reconnected to the Kwantlen network
- Login to the laptop using your Banner ID
- Login to Kwantlen resources with your Login Name as shown in the chart below.
After the laptop is reconnected to the Kwantlen network
- Login to the laptop using your Login Name.
- Login to Kwantlen resources with your Login Name as shown in the chart below.
My Documents on the laptop
The files in the My Documents folder on the laptop will not be changed; they will still be found in;
C:\Documents and Settings\100000567 (sample Banner number only)
Details of Logins and Passwords
The following chart outlines which services are affected by the change and which are not. Please note that all students and employees use their Banner ID number to log into Online Self-Service, myKwantlen, Moodle and IET Self-Service (for logging job requests online).When you set your password (or PIN) in Online Self-Service, it will synchronize all the identified passwords to be the same. The process takes about 15 minutes in total for all accounts to be updated.
