Visitors & Community Borrowers

Card Issuance

  • Anyone living within the Lower Mainland can be issued a Community Borrower card.
  • The person must show both a piece of identification and photo identification, which must have their current address on it. A bill that has been mailed to their home is sufficient as a piece of ID so long as it shows the current address correctly.
  • A fee of $20.00 per 4 months is charged for a Community Borrower card.
  • Community borrower cards are valid for a 4 month period from the date of issuance. Cards will be updated at the end of this period upon confirmation of correct address and telephone number, on the condition that all outstanding materials are returned and any fines paid and that the $20.00 fee is paid.
  • Patrons must be at least fourteen years old in order to receive a Library card.

Exceptions to the fee for a Community Borrower card are :

  • faculty, staff and students who hold a library card at the Institutions with whom the Library has a Reciprocal Borrowing agreement.
  • local area high school students.
  • Seniors (65+)
  • These exceptions must provide identification:
    • students and employees of institutions with whom we have a Reciprocal Borrowing agreement must present a COPPUL or CPSLD card (see link above for more information) or current library card or employee ID from that institution.
    • high school students must show ID in the form of a school card or other photo ID.
    • Seniors, when requesting a card, please let staff know if you are over 65 and would like a free community borrower card and present ID in the form of a Gold Card or driver's licence.
