Current and Pending Projects: I have long been interested in gender, culture, and social justice. Over the past ten years, my work has focused on violence against women, female offenders, restorative community justice, and Aboriginal justice. I have directed projects in Canada, the United States, Caribbean, and former Soviet Union.
I am particularly interested in restorative justice and in doing action research. Most recently, I have formed partnerships with the Vancouver Police Department and the Vancouver School Board. In 2005, for example, my students did a qualitative study in two high schools. We conducted interviews, focus groups, a survey, and observations to learn about conflict, current responses, and the potential for implementing restorative practices in schools. I plan to do further research in this area during 2005-06.
